About this book
The Making of a Country Parish is by Harlow S. Mills. The introduction says there is a country problem that is equal in seriousness to the city problem, and that the two are so intimately related that neither of them can be solved by itself alone. The introduction says its writer has no theory to present, nor any philosophy to exploit, and no patent way of solving either the city or the country problem. A note signed Newell Dwight Hillis says that Mr. Mills has made some important discoveries and established certain mother principles.
A section headed V, The Methods of the Larger Parish, says that practical methods that can be successfully worked constitute the great need in any enterprise. The text says the real measure of the value of any plan or scheme is found in what it accomplishes. The text asks why the representatives of the various churches cannot get together, make a united survey of the country for miles in every direction and become fully acquainted with the situation.
