About this book

The Manchester Rebels of the Fatal '45 is a book by William Harrison Ainsworth. The text says that many new streets had been completed, an Exchange built, and a fine new square laid out, and that the town had thus grown in size and wealth, yet had not lost its provincial air. The text says that, seen from the ancient stone bridge spanning the Irwell, the town still presented a picturesque appearance.

A character named Atherton rejoins that he shall be charmed with the office, but is not sure that Miss Rawcliffe will be equally well pleased. A character named Dr. Byrom says a room is secured at the St. James's Hotel, and that the listener must pass as his son Edward, which will remove all suspicion.
