Thomas Wood sets the biblical account of creation beside the science of his day, and adds reflections meant to encourage practical religion. This American edition of 1831, printed in New York from the second London edition, was revised by the Rev. J. P. Durbin, a professor of languages at Augusta College in Kentucky. The preface treats Moses as the sacred historian of creation and lists what the account covers, from the first matter and the forming of living creatures to the motion of the planets and the beginning of time.
