About this book
The Old Folks' Party is by Edward Bellamy and carries the date 1898. A club of six gathers in Jessie's parlor, and Jessie Hyde asks what they shall do next Wednesday evening. Henry proposes that the club dress up to resemble what they expect to look like fifty years hence and call on Mary to talk over old times.
Henry is described as looking older and feebler than any of the company, with scant hair in thin and long white locks and shoulders bowed in a marked stoop. The text says the pathos and melancholy of the retrospections in which they were indulging became real.
