About this book
The Point of View is a book by Henry James. The first piece is a letter from Miss Aurora Church, at sea, to Miss Whiteside, in Paris. The letter says the bromide of sodium proved perfectly useless, and asks whether the reader will believe that the writer spent the whole voyage on deck in the most animated conversation and exercise. The first letter says the writer came down to every meal, where the appetite of a fish-wife was displayed.
A letter says the writer is in bed in a sleeping-car, in the upper berth, while the lower forms the couch of an unknown female. A letter says that, at the seat of government, one isn’t overgoverned, and that there is no government at all to speak of.
