About this book

The title page of The Rover Boys Under Canvas adds the subtitle "or The Mystery of the Wrecked Submarine," and it lists other Rover Boys titles such as The Rover Boys at School and The Rover Boys in Camp.

One scene is a baseball game in which Colby Hall plays Hixley High. Jack Rover hits the ball far into left field and slides home with a run that ties the score, while his friends shout. In another, Captain Dale announces that no candidate has the required number of votes and gives the voters ten minutes before another vote; Jack and Gabe Werner are tied for first place, and Walt Baxter says he voted for Jack. A third passage has Fred, called a young lieutenant, waving a handkerchief and calling to signal a motor boat cruising near the bay shore.
