About this book
The title page describes the book as an authentic story of Kut, adventures in captivity and Stamboul intrigue, by Captain E. O. Mousley, R.F.A. The text says General Townshend watched every phase of an engagement with great satisfaction and directed attention to a charge of the 14th Hussars. The narrator says the party had had no food except a sandwich for breakfast for twenty-four hours.
The narrator says that at Eski Chehir the party was allowed into a hotel restaurant place near the station and forbidden to go outside. The narrator says the party fell to discussing what they would do at Constantinople, whither both Fauad Bey and some Germans at Konia had assured them they were being taken. The narrator says the Monitor 29 entered Smyrna and that the once familiar grey of England's Navy, for them a very strange sight indeed, filled them with feelings indescribable.
