About this book
The Shield of Silence is a book by Harriet T. Comstock. A dedication reads TO MY SON PHILIP S. COMSTOCK. A quoted line reads, “We will grasp the hands of men and women; and slowly holding one another's hands we will work our way upwards.” Another quoted line says that Joan rose from her self-appointed task and looked at Thornton.
The text says Meredith did not go with Thornton on the morrow. A character addressed as David says he is going to put his shack on the map right under Blowing Rock. The text says Doris smiled, in the growing conviction that Joan had indeed come back to her, and was happy and content.
