About this book
The Story of Nuremberg is a book by Cecil Headlam. The text says that in 1127 the town had to stand another siege, this time of ten weeks’ duration, whilst the Hohenstaufen brothers held it against Lothar. The text calls Frederick I. Barbarossa the greatest and wisest of the Kaisers since Charlemagne and says he lived in the castle in 1166.
The text says that in 1332 the Council bought from the Heilsbronn Monastery a house on the site of the present Rathaus, and built there a new Council-house into which they first moved in 1340. The text says new rooms were added in 1514, mostly by Hans Behaim, and calls them very good specimens of late Gothic. Chapter XIII, headed Itinerary, Places of Resort, Hotels, offers a scheme that may perhaps prove of use to those who have but a day or two to spend in Nuremberg and wish to glance at the chief places of interest.
