About this book
The Systematics of the Frogs of the Hyla Rubra Group in Middle America is a study by Juan R. León, dated December 2, 1969. The study says its author examined 1383 preserved specimens, 50 skeletons, and 9 lots of tadpoles. The contents list headings including Materials and Methods, Key to Species and Subspecies and Key to Known Tadpoles, among others.
The text reports that most individuals from the Pacific lowlands of Costa Rica are dark tan to greenish gray above with dark brown longitudinal stripes that are entire or broken. The text says individuals from Turrialba, Cartago Province, Costa Rica, are pale olive-tan with olive-brown markings. The text says a stock probably invaded Central America in the late Pliocene and dispersed through humid forested environments to Nicaragua.
