About this book

The tale of Daddy Longlegs is by Arthur Scott Bailey and illustrated by Harry L. Smith. The contents give Chapter I as The Strange Tracks and Chapter II as The New Neighbor.

When Rusty Wren says there must have been a crowd, Mr. Chippy shakes his head and says there was only one person, one person with eight legs. Daddy Longlegs says he is afraid he shall never get used to the wind, and Sandy Chipmunk asks why he does not ride home. Sandy suggests riding home on Farmer Green's wagon, and says he happens to know that Johnnie Green and his grandmother drove to the miller's this morning to have a sack of wheat ground into flour. Everybody but Buster cried out that Grandfather Graybeard was a fine name for Daddy Longlegs, and Buster asked Mr. Chippy how he knew Daddy Longlegs is a grandfather.
