William Alexander Fraser combines palace conversation, suspicion and jungle adventure in this novel set in India. A later scene follows Major Finnerty and Lord Victor as they watch a tiger confront a bison and wild dogs. The animal encounters are described in graphic detail. Readers interested in older spy fiction can find intrigue alongside the colonial attitudes and hunting culture of the story.
