About this book
The Treason and Death of Benedict Arnold is a play for a Greek theatre by John Jay Chapman. The list of characters names, among others, Benedict Arnold, Joshua Smith, Major André, Father Hudson, a Chorus of Waves and a Chorus of Clouds.
Act I is set on the margin of the Hudson at West Point, with Fort Putnam and the Highlands in the distance. Act II is set in the sitting-room of Benedict Arnold in England in 1801. Father Hudson addresses the clouds of the morning and the waves of the sea, telling them to attend their Father Hudson, the Ageless, the Majestic. A speech by Arnold speaks of the very coat in which he did the treason, by accident preserved.
