About this book
The War of Independence is credited to John Fiske and is offered with maps, an index and a biographical sketch. The preface says the little book does not contain the substance of the lectures on the American Revolution delivered in so many parts of the United States since 1883, and that it is but a sketch. The preface hopes the book may prove useful to the higher classes in schools, as well as to teachers.
The text on Mr. Fiske's first studies says that at the age of seven he was reading Rollin, Josephus, and Goldsmith's Greece. The text introduces Charles, Earl Cornwallis, as thirty-eight years old, long served with distinction in the British army, and lately reached the grade of lieutenant-general. The index includes entries for Ohio Company, Old Sarum and Paper money, each followed by page numbers.
