About this book
The Wonders of the Jungle, Book Two is by Sarath Kumar Ghosh, and its address to the children says the writer is going to tell many more Wonders of the Jungle, as promised in Book I. The address says the writer will tell about some animals not described in Book I, and that the reader may like to know especially about the tiger, the lion, the leopard, and the wolf. The book says a wise leader would know by glancing around how far the ground was likely to be soft.
A chapter on the special qualities of tiger and tigress says the finest specimen of the tiger is the Royal Bengal tiger, which when full grown is sometimes seven feet long, without including the tail. The book says the wolf flourishes in the West and has beaten the farmer and the ranchman, the wonderful part being that the American wolf has beaten man by his own efforts.
