The Wrong Box
The Wrong Box is an 1889 comic novel by Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894), written with his stepson Lloyd Osbourne. A black farce built around a tontine, a fortune that goes to the last survivor, it sends a misdelivered corpse and a scheming cast careering through Victorian England in one of Stevenson’s rare excursions into pure comedy. A welcome change of key from Treasure Island and Jekyll and Hyde, it was memorably filmed in 1966. Free PDF download available on BDeBooks.
