About this book
Thomas Andrews, Shipbuilder is a book by Shan F. Bullock with an introduction by Sir Horace Plunkett. A dedication is addressed to the men with whom Thomas Andrews worked, who knew and loved him. The text speaks of a writer who could tell the story of Thomas Andrews the man, and gives the purpose of this short memoir as a fairly complete record of his life, including his parentage, his home and his education.
Mr. Erskine Childers gives his impression of Andrews as he saw him one day working in the Island Yard towards the close of 1911, and writes that it was bracing to be near him. A copy of a letter from Mr. Bruce Ismay to Mrs. Thomas Andrews, Jun., dated 31st May, 1912, from 30 James Street, Liverpool, offers sympathy in the terrible loss she has suffered.
