About this book
Thompson's Cat is by Robert Moore Williams. The introductory note says the weird, invisible insect depopulated an entire planet, and that it was felling Thompson's crew as his ship hurtled toward the sun. The note adds that Buster, Thompson's wise cat, was forgotten in the panic.
Thompson says it is a dead world, with awe in his voice, and with the trace of a beginning fear somewhere inside of him. Kurkil asks in a whisper what killed it, and Thompson says he does not know what killed it. The text says more than a dozen cities were seen from the air, all of them dead and all of them deserted. Neff says exultantly that no damned bug can bite through one of these things.
