About this book
Pug Parry can twist iron bars into loops, and Phil Dunton is so small that people call him "Big Hat." Both appear in Erle Stanley Gardner's story, which also brings in the Circle C outfit and the Bar Y boys. Old Walrus, whose real name is Bill Carson, has a gray mustache that droops either side of his chin. Sam Eaton, a tall and gloomy hand, throws a heavy punch at a small, wiry newcomer to the Bar Y ranch, who slips it.
In another scene Walrus offers Pug a job for the next thirty days at steady pay and expenses, with transport to and from. Fielding Spencer tries to warn him about something, but Walrus says he does not want to know. In a further passage Phil, standing on tiptoe, slaps Pug on the cheek and swings at him. Pug looks down in surprise and heads for the door.
