About this book
Valerius Terminus, Of the Interpretation of Nature, is by Francis Bacon. The contents list chapters headed Of the Limits and End of Knowledge and Of the Impediments of Knowledge in Handling It by Parts. One chapter heading says that the end and scope of knowledge hath been generally mistaken.
A list of points in the text holds that the whole scope of the former search, the search of the materials or dead beginnings or principles of things, is impertinent and vain. One heading reads Of the great error of inquiring knowledge in Anticipations, and the point beneath it says the writer calls Anticipations the voluntary collections that the mind maketh of knowledge. The text says that if any man can by anticipations reach to that which a weak and inferior wit may attain to by interpretation, he cannot receive too high a title.
