O retrato de Diogo do Couto de que tratei no 1.º artigo, acha-se na collecção Barbosa Machado, em cujo Catalogo vem descripto sob o n.º 926.

Ahi se apontam mais dois retratos sob os n.os 1203 e 1212, sendo um de Lopo Vaz de Sampaio e outro de D. Garcia de Noronha. Apezar de não se acusar a procedencia de nenhum delles, estou convencido que os dois ultimos seriam igualmente destinados á edição de 1736 das Decadas de Couto.

O livreiro Maia tinha ha pouco um exemplar desta obra em que se via o retrato de Couto.

Na livraria da Torre do Tombo existe um exemplar da Decada quarta da edição de 1602, á qual juntaram o retrato de Couto, gravado por Massili em 1722.
