Abdul Kayum was born on 18 January 1950, in Dhaka. He got 2nd place in the Dhaka board in the SSC exam. He graduated and did his post-graduate with  Statistics.He joined in the Liberation War of Bangladesh. Later he also got into politics while staying with the lefties party. He was a Central leader in Bangladesh Student Union. Currently, He is Associate Editor at Prothom also. He is also the Treasurer of the Bangladesh Math Olympiad Committee. He has also written regularly in subjective science Newspapers. He has already published at least 15 books.
