Amber Ruffin writes comedy for television and theatre as well as books. She and her sister, Lacey Lamar, are equal coauthors of You’ll Never Believe What Happened to Lacey: Crazy Stories about Racism and The World Record Book of Racist Stories. The first collection shapes Lamar’s experiences through the sisters’ commentary, while the second broadens the family record with accounts from their parents, siblings, nieces and nephews. Ruffin has also written for Late Night with Seth Meyers and co-wrote the stage musical Some Like It Hot with Matthew López. The sisters’ comic exchange keeps the focus on specific experiences while showing how racism reaches across a family.
