Anne Bogel

Anne Bogel built her readership through Modern Mrs Darcy, a books-and-lifestyle blog named with a nod to Jane Austen, and through the podcast What Should I Read Next?, which she launched in 2016 to match a guest's reading history against three suggestions. Don't Overthink It: Make Easier Decisions, Stop Second-Guessing, and Bring More Joy to Your Life came from Baker Books in March 2020 and works in the same practical register, aimed at people who stall over small choices as readily as large ones. Her authority here is that of a lay observer rather than a clinician: she holds no qualification in psychology or counselling, and Baker is a Christian publisher, so the guidance runs closer to faith-shaped common sense than to therapy. Bogel also runs a paid membership book club, and she lives in Louisville, Kentucky.
