Benjamin Percy

Benjamin Percy moves among novels, short stories, essays, screenplays, and comics, often combining literary character study with horror, science fiction, and action. His fiction includes story collections and scripts for major comic-book publishers. The Unfamiliar Garden occupies the second position in the Comet Cycle after The Ninth Metal. Mariner Books released the 2022 American edition. A comet’s debris has altered earthly life, and invasive fungal growth begins affecting people and animals in the Pacific Northwest. Professor Jack Abernathy and detective Nora Abernathy are also searching for their missing daughter Mia, making the ecological mystery inseparable from a fractured family. Percy uses the series structure to show different consequences of one astronomical event while changing location, cast, and genre emphasis between volumes. The Unfamiliar Garden leans toward investigative suspense and biological unease, but its emotional center remains the parents’ divided response to loss. That blend reflects Percy’s broader movement among prose fiction, screen storytelling, and serialized comics.
