Brian Thompson is a British writer whose work has included novels and writing for stage, radio, and television. Imperial vanities is his group biography of Samuel Baker, Valentine Baker, and Charles George Gordon, three figures whose careers crossed the geography and ambitions of the Victorian Empire.
