Carolyn Mackler
Carolyn Mackler moves between fiction for teenagers, middle-grade readers, and, more recently, grown-up audiences. Best Friend Next Door was her first middle-grade novel, following Hannah and Emme through a new neighborhood friendship in alternating viewpoints. Infinite in Between uses five connected voices to follow students from the beginning of high school to graduation. Vegan, Virgin, Valentine belongs to Mackler's earlier teen fiction and centers an ambitious student facing disruptions to her carefully ordered plans. Her bibliography also includes The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things, a Michael L. Printz Honor Book, and The Future of Us, written with Jay Asher. Her books have appeared on bestseller lists, received award recognition, and been translated into more than twenty-five languages. Across those works, Mackler writes closely about friendship, family change, self-image, and the gap between expectations and lived experience.
