Jennifer Walkup

Jennifer Walkup builds This Ordinary Life around radio, giving its teenage protagonist a precise ambition beyond school. Its Luminis Books edition dates to 2015. Jasmine Torres hopes to become a professional disc jockey, yet her plans share space with family responsibilities, friendship, and a new relationship. School Library Journal notes both Jasmine’s broadcasting goal and her role in helping care for her younger brother, who has epilepsy. Walkup, a William Paterson University graduate, had previously published the novel Second Verse. Her second book uses music, interviews, and broadcast dreams to give a familiar coming-of-age story a distinct professional direction.
