Chris Anderson

1961

Two different men called Chris Anderson are listed together here, and the books belong to separate careers.

Chris Anderson, born 1957, runs TED. He was a magazine publisher in Britain, made and lost a fortune in the dot-com collapse, bought the TED conference in 2001 and put the talks online free in 2006, which is the decision the entire thing rests on. TED Talks is his book on public speaking, and its argument is that an idea worth spreading beats any amount of delivery technique.

Chris Anderson, born 1961, edited Wired for a decade. The Long Tail argued that unlimited shelf space makes the obscure collectively larger than the hits, and Free examined business models built on giving the product away. He later left to build drone companies.
