David Sheppard is a British music journalist whose writing has appeared in Mojo, Q, Uncut, and the Observer. His book On Some Faraway Beach is an authorised critical biography of musician, producer, and artist Brian Eno. First published by Orion in 2008, it follows Eno from childhood and art school through Roxy Music, solo work, ambient music, and collaborations across rock and pop. Sheppard drew on interviews with figures including Bryan Ferry, David Byrne, Robert Wyatt, John Cale, and Gavin Bryars, as well as assistance from Brian and Anthea Eno. A revised White Rabbit edition adds later material and a new introduction by Alan Warner. That combination of first-hand testimony, cultural context, and close attention to Eno's creative development places On Some Faraway Beach firmly within serious music biography rather than celebrity portraiture.
