Happy Doomsday follows three teenagers who survive when nearly everyone else suddenly dies: Dev, whose interests and routines help him navigate an often hostile world; Mohammad, a football player confronting manipulation and belonging; and Lucy, who is pregnant and grieving. The novel appeared from Thomas Dunne Books in 2018. Sosnowski shifts among their perspectives as empty America becomes both refuge and threat, asking what community might mean after familiar institutions disappear. His earlier novels include Rapture and Vamped, the latter imagining a society dominated by vampires. Happy Doomsday continues his interest in turning genre premises into social satire, but it grounds the apocalypse in three alienated perspectives instead of centering one heroic survivor. The novel combines bleak events with sharp observation as its characters decide whether survival alone is enough reason to rebuild relationships and responsibility.
