Elena Armas
The Spanish Love Deception takes a woman who needs a date for her sister's wedding in Spain and hands her the colleague she has spent two years fighting with.
Armas is Spanish and wrote it in English, self-published it, and watched it move enormously on social media before a publisher picked it up. The Barcelona wedding sections carry the specific detail of somebody writing about home.
The banter is the engine and the book is long for its plot, which readers of the genre generally count as a feature.
