Eric Schlosser
1959
Schlosser spent three years reporting Fast Food Nation, working through meatpacking plants, potato farms, marketing archives and the labour records of the chains, and it changed what a generation understood about how the food arrives. Reefer Madness covers the American black market in cannabis, the adult entertainment business and undocumented labour. Command and Control concerns nuclear weapons accidents, built from documents obtained by freedom of information request, including a 1980 explosion in an Arkansas missile silo. He works slowly and reports first.
