Essa Hansen brings professional film sound-design experience into space-opera fiction. Her work at Skywalker Sound has involved creating effects for imagined creatures, technology and environments in science-fiction and fantasy productions. Nophek Gloss, published by Orbit in 2020, introduced the Graven trilogy and its bubble multiverse through Caiden’s search for justice and belonging. Azura Ghost continues the sequence, expanding the role of Caiden’s sentient starship and introducing another point-of-view character whose consciousness can move between organic and synthetic forms. Hansen has explained that sound, biology, physics and sensory perception all inform her worldbuilding. The trilogy concluded with Ethera Grave, completing the multiversal story begun in her debut.
