Fiona Barnett
Fiona Barnett's gothic fiction draws on British history, folklore and disorienting landscapes. She grew up near the New Forest and later settled in Edinburgh. Her short work appeared in Haunted Voices: An Anthology of Scottish Gothic Storytelling, and she has discussed the British Civil Wars on podcasts. The Dark Between the Trees alternates between Parliamentarian soldiers entering Moresby Wood in 1643 and a modern research team investigating their disappearance. Solaris published the novel, whose shifting woodland links its historical mystery with folk horror and speculative fiction.
