Emily McCosh

Emily McCosh studied graphic design at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and works in that trade in California, writing fantasy alongside it. Her short fiction has appeared in Beneath Ceaseless Skies, Shimmer, Galaxy's Edge, Flash Fiction Online and the Futures slot in Nature. Under the Earth, Over the Sky, her first novel, was paid for by a Kickstarter campaign and came out in November 2022. Látwill, the fae country it takes place in, has restless winds and woods that prey on weak minds; Iohmar, King Beneath the Earth, finds a dying human baby at the border of the realms and raises the boy, Lor, himself. Reviewers have singled out the slow father-and-son bond between them as what the book is really doing. A collection of stories and poetry, All the Woods She Watches Over, came earlier; The Sea at the End of Everything, an illustrated novella about two sisters and a young man washed into their harbour in a storm, came later.
