Author: Gordon G. Chang
Gordon G. Chang is an American lawyer, writer, and commentator focused on China, East Asia, economics, and international affairs. He lived and worked in China and Hong Kong for nearly two decades, including service as counsel with the law firm Paul, Weiss. Random House published his first book, The Coming Collapse of China, in 2001. It argued that the tensions between market reform and one-party government made Chinese institutions economically and politically fragile. The book established the forceful, widely debated geopolitical forecasting that became central to Chang's public career, while drawing on his experience of law and business in the region.
