H. A. Guerber

Hélène Adeline Guerber (1859-1929) was an American author and educator known for retelling myth, legend, and history in a form young students could follow. Her popular "Story of" books, among them The Story of the Romans and Myths of Greece and Rome, were widely used in American schools. She wrote in an accessible, episodic style that favored memorable scenes over dry summary, which kept her books in print long after her death.
