Herb Cohen
Cohen made his living negotiating and advised American administrations on hostage situations, including during the Iran crisis, and taught negotiation to the FBI and to corporations. You Can Negotiate Anything, published in 1980, argues that nearly everything is negotiable, that power is mostly perceived rather than real, and that whoever cares least about the outcome holds the advantage. He wrote it in a deliberately unserious voice for a business book. He grew up in Brooklyn alongside Larry King, and died in 2022.
