Jasmine Warga
1988
Warga is the daughter of a Jordanian father and an American mother, and Other Words for Home is a verse novel about a Syrian girl sent to Cincinnati without her father, which took a Newbery Honor. My Heart and Other Black Holes is about two teenagers who meet online at the lowest point either has reached, and is careful about what it refuses to romanticise. The Shape of Thunder gives two girls a way to try to undo a school shooting. She taught high school before writing and lives in Chicago.
