Burger is a social psychologist who did something almost nobody had managed: he ran Milgram's obedience experiment again, in 2009, under conditions a modern ethics board would approve, stopping at the point where the original had established what it was going to establish. The rate of obedience was close to Milgram's, half a century later. He also writes the textbook a great many American undergraduates use for personality psychology, and works on how people are talked into things they would rather not do.
