Ken Caillat records the making of music from the perspective of the engineer and producer inside the studio. He co-produced Fleetwood Mac's Rumours and contributed engineering work to the album, earning an Album of the Year Grammy and a nomination in the engineering category. His later production credits with the band include Tusk, Mirage, Live, and The Chain box set. Making Rumours turns that firsthand experience into a studio memoir, explaining how songs such as Dreams, Don't Stop, Go Your Own Way, and The Chain changed through performance, recording choices, and group dynamics. Steve Stiefel shares the writing credit. First published in 2012 and later reissued, the book combines technical observations with an account of collaboration under pressure, supported by photographs from the sessions. Caillat also produced recordings by his daughter, singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat, extending his work across another generation of popular music.
