Lara Adrian is the name a Michigan-born novelist, born in 1966, put on her vampire fiction after publishing seven historical romances as Tina St. John. She left corporate administration in 1995 to write full time and sold her first completed manuscript to Ballantine in 1998. The Midnight Breed series opened in 2007 with Kiss of Midnight, which Borders named its bestselling debut of that year. Tempted by Midnight, numbered 12.5 in that sequence, is a shorter entry written for the 1001 Dark Nights collection in 2014. For 100 Days belongs to a separate contemporary strand, the 100 Series, which trades the Boston vampire warriors for a wealthy modern hero and continues in For 100 Nights and For 100 Reasons. She has often said she was frightened of vampires when small. She lives in coastal New England with her husband.
