Maggie Smith

1934

This is the poet, not the actress. Good Bones, a short poem about telling a child the world is beautiful while not being sure of it yourself, went round the internet in 2016 after a mass shooting and ended up being read on television. Keep Moving started as notes Smith wrote to herself during a divorce and posted one at a time. You Could Make This Place Beautiful is the memoir of that marriage ending, and it is unusually careful about how much of another person's life a writer is entitled to use. She lives in Ohio.
