Mary Butts

Mary Butts (1890-1937) was an English modernist writer whose novels and short stories fuse classical myth, mysticism, and the landscapes of Dorset and Cornwall. She lived at the heart of the interwar avant-garde in Paris and London, counting Jean Cocteau among her circle, and died at forty-six.
