Scott Rieckens

Rieckens was working in branding in San Diego, leasing a BMW and spending everything he earned, when a podcast about financial independence persuaded him to try it. Playing with Fire is the documentary he then made of his own family attempting it, and the book that came out of the filming. The honest part is his wife: she did not want any of it at first, and the negotiation between them is most of the story. The method itself is ordinary, a very high savings rate and much lower spending, and he does not pretend otherwise.
