Sue Stuart Smith
The Well Gardened Mind braids three things: the clinical research on gardening and mental health, the history of horticultural therapy in hospitals and prisons, and Stuart-Smith's own grandfather, who came home from the First World War unable to function and was put back together by a horticulture course. She is a psychiatrist and psychotherapist and is careful to say that the evidence base is real but modest, which most books in this territory are not. Her husband is a garden designer and the garden they built together is in the book. The term name here drops the hyphen from her surname.
