Thomas S. Hischak
Thomas S. Hischak is a theatre historian and reference writer whose work maps the people, productions, and songs of American musical culture. He co-wrote The Disney Song Encyclopedia with Mark A. Robinson, organizing more than 900 songs alphabetically across animated and live-action films, television productions, Broadway shows, and theme-park attractions. The entries identify composers and lyricists, locate each song within its original production, and note significant recordings and interpretations. Scarecrow Press first published the volume in 2009, and bibliographic records place its coverage from the 1930s into the early twenty-first century. Hischak's broader output includes encyclopedias on American theatre, film musicals, and song, so this collaboration applies his established reference method to Disney music. Robinson's contribution is essential to understanding the book as a jointly researched guide rather than a single-author survey.
