About this book

365 Bedtime Stories is by Mary Graham Bonner, with twenty illustrations in color by Florence Choate and Elizabeth Curtis. The contents list the stories by date, among them January 1: A New Year’s Party, The Rhyming Years, Naughty Wind, The Selfish Oyster Crabs, Brownie’s Toothache and The Pink Cockatoo.

In the entry dated APRIL 14, The Onion’s Speech, daddy says that the vegetables were talking in the cellar and were boasting a great deal. The onion is talking and says it came from the Land of the Pyramids originally, with an ancient home in Egypt, and a very plain little potato asks how an onion can have a family tree. In the entry dated SEPTEMBER 9, Evelyn’s Story, daddy says he promised Evelyn he would tell her about the dolls he saw in the Old Natural History Museum in Washington. A little Watch with the broken mainspring says “You may be a fine Clock”, but that it does not see as that does any good.
