About this book
A Book of North Wales includes an account of Anglesey, which the text calls the Mother of Wales, apparently because of its fertility. Iestyn's monument is described as showing a crown through an artist's licence, since Iestyn was a king's son but never wore the royal circlet. The account of Pabo says that long and stubborn fighting against the Picts in North Britain preceded refuge in Wales and a kind reception by the prince of Powys.
The description of Llandegla singles out a spring on Gwern Degla, now almost choked up and about two hundred yards from the church. Pennant's quoted account in Tours describes a patient washing limbs in the well, offering fourpence, walking around it three times and repeating the Lord's Prayer three times.
